POLICE have urged anybody with information about child sex offences in Worcester to report them as soon as possible, following claims about grooming at a city park.

There have been reports on social media of a 19-year-old man grooming underage girls in Cripplegate Park.

However, police said they had received no such reports of anything of this nature at the park.

The post, shared more than 100 times on Facebook, was titled 'Warning to all parents' and claimed that the man was operating in the Worcester park.

However, Sergeant Carl Jones, of West Mercia Police, said: “I would like to reassure the community that officers from St Johns and Bedwardine Safer Neighbourhood Team regularly patrol Cripplegate Park.

“We take reports of sexual offences very seriously and anyone that has been a victim of a sexual offence, whenever this occurred, is encouraged to report the incident to police by calling 101.

Specially trained officers will support victims through the investigation.”
