A BEST-SELLING author will thrill spy book fans at a talk at Evesham Rowing Club.

Fans of Ian Fleming’s James Bond, will be all too familiar with ‘M’, MI5’s Spymaster, played by such cinema greats including: David Niven, Edward Fox, Judi Dench and more recently, Ralph Fiennes.

Henry Hemming's book ‘M – Maxwell Knight: the greatest spymaster’ is the story behind the real man upon which Ian Fleming based his character ‘M’ in his James Bond books.

The talk will take place on Tuesday August 22 and is organised by the Evesham Festival of Words.

Festival Chairman, Sue Ablett, said: "Everyone loves a good spy story and Ian Fleming’s James Bond books and the films that followed have become part of our popular culture.

"I’m absolutely delighted that Henry can join us as part of the Festival’s Fringe for an evening which will reveal so much about the real man who was M, the greatest of spy masters and the role model for Fleming’s fictional character.

"Henry has a massive following generated from similar presentations at festivals, book signings and so on across the UK.

"I guarantee that we shall be talking about Henry and Maxwell long after his book tour has moved on to pastures new. This is definitely not something to be missed."

Tickets, at £5 each, are available online at www.eveshamfestivalofwords.org or from the Festival Box Office at Evesham’s Almonry in Vine Street.
