A community support officer has been giving talks to students at Nunnery Wood High School on bicycle and road safety awareness.

Andrea Beech gave talks to all year groups throughout the week, advising students on issues such as the importance of wearing a helmet and being visible.

Students were also reminded not to listen to music or text whilst cycling, to ride single file, to respect pedestrians and not to ride on the footpath.

PCSO Beech said: “ It surprised me how many of the students, that cycle to school, do not wear a helmet, have bicycle lights and do not wear anything reflective.

"Due to my concern for their safety, I felt it necessary to offer advice to them.

“I was also able to obtain, from West Mercia Police, bike lights, flashing arm bands and reflective items to give to the students to make them more visible whilst cycling.”
