PARLIAMENT must "deliver the will of the people" when voting on whether the government can trigger Article 50 to withdraw the UK from the EU, Bromsgrove’s MP has said.
The Supreme Court ruled today (Tuesday, January 24) by a majority of eight to three that the government cannot begin the process of leaving the EU without a vote in parliament.
Bromsgrove MP Sajid Javid said on Twitter following the result: "Our independent judiciary is the cornerstone of rule of law. Full respect for the decision.
"Parliament must now deliver will of the people."
Bromsgrove voted to leave the EU in last June’s historic referendum, with 32,563 voting to leave (55 per cent) and 26,252 opting for remain (45 per cent).
