PLANS for this year's Evesham Carnival have begun to take shape.

The carnival, which will take place in June will feature live music on the main stage, a food festival and charity stalls.

A host of bars will also be open whilst there will also be entertainment for children.

The parade of floats will also be returning this year and this year's theme is Driving Through the Decades.

The carnival is typically attended by between 3000 and 4000 people and last year saw around 20 motorised floats.

Visitors were entertained by performers including Magic Steve, Bretforton Silver Band and the St Andrew's Pipe Band.

Over the next few weeks there will be chance to enter a pageant to decide who will be carnival queen and attendants during the carnival parade.

A spokesman for the festival said: "This year is going to be bigger and better, everyone is really excited for this year's carnival.

"We have got a really good programme that will be announced over the coming months."

The event will take place on Saturday June 24 and organised by Vale of Evesham Round Table working with a dedicated committee of volunteers.

The carnival takes place at Crown Meadow between 11am and 6pm.

More than £4,000 has been raised for local charities since the Evesham Carnival returned in 2015.
