BURGLARS stealing a van in Alvechurch ran over the owner's foot as they made off with the two motorbikes inside.

On Friday, December 2, just after 9pm, the owner of a property in Redditch Road spotted four men dressed in dark clothing and balaclavas stealing his white Ford Transit van, containing two Motocross bikes and some tools.

The owner attempted to stop the burglars, but was kicked by one of the masked men, who then reversed the van over his foot and made off in the direction of Birmingham.

The man was not seriously injured, but West Mercia Police would like to hear from anyone who saw the vehicle or any of the men in it.

Detective Inspector Dave Knight said: "This was a very distressing incident for the person involved and I understand that it will be concerning for the local community.

"I would like to reassure the community that these sorts of incidents are rare. A thorough investigation is underway and patrols have also been stepped up in the area."

Anyone with information is urged to contact police on 101, quoting incident number 807 of December 2.

The bikes stolen were a red Honda 2004 model and a brand new 2017 KTM 150 Motocross.
