A DAD from Fairfield is preparing to swim 10k along the River Dart, to raise money for Meningitis Research, in memory of his own dad.
David Hunt, 36, and his family have raised more than £30,000 for the charity since his dad died from meningitis 20 years ago.
David has been having open water training sessions at Worcester Triathlon Club, and has been swimming regularly at Bromsgrove's Dolphin Centre in preparation for the swim.
He said: "I'm feeling relatively confident but I've never done anything like this before. The longest I've swum in a formal event is a mile so it's going to be a challenge."
David will tackle the swim from Totnes to Dittisham on his own on Saturday, September 3.
