IT has been a busy night and morning for motorway police as they have responded to six incidents of drink driving and some accidents, including this overturned car.

The M5 reopened this morning (Sunday) after it was closed southbound following an overturned vehicle at junction 8 this morning.

The Central Motorway Police Group reported that there were no serious injuries.

The CMPG also tweeted a picture of an overturned car which ended up its side.

A spokesman said: "Drink driving and parallel parking do not go well together. Fortunately no pedestrians were nearby when this happened.”

They also arrested a drink driver at junction 4 (Bromsgrove) of the M5 after what officers described as ‘very poor driving’. The driver has already been formally charged.

The highest reading was recorded in the Stafford area however – 115mcg of alcohol in 100ml of breath, more than three times the drink drive limit of 35mcg.

A CMPG spokesman said: "Disappointing in some respects that we have arrested 6 drink drivers tonight... #fatal4. "However for us it's very satisfying to take these people off the road. They will be disqualified and fined, which may mean losing jobs.”
