RECEPTION pupils from a Worcester primary school have asked Worcester News readers for their help.

The youngsters from Oldbury Park Primary have seen their poster shortlisted in a national competition - but now they need as many likes on Facebook as possible to be crowned the winner.

Children from class RJ created a poster about science in green space which was chosen from 1,600 entries across the UK.

Pictures of the shortlisted posters are available on the British Science Week Facebook page and will be judged via a public vote - with one 'like' equalling one vote.

Voting is open until Monday, May 2.

The poster was created by pupils as part of their activities to celebrate British Science Week.

All the children in the school also studied science including children in year 2 looking at science within their forest school site and children in year 4 making a model of their teeth and experimenting with toothpaste.

Older children looked at examples of famous scientists and discussed what they would do if they were to become scientists themselves.

Science co-ordinator Sharon Condon said: "One of our posters was whittled down to the last 14.

"They drew science in green space so it was exploring flowers and minibeasts and watering cans and birds.

"It was a group of nine children that worked together to create a great poster."

The school said it was excited and proud of its reception children and urged as many people as possible to vote for the poster.
