BOROUGH residents are being invited to play a more active role in the running of local housing estates.

Dudley Council’s housing conference, which is open to anyone living on a borough estate, will promote opportunities for tenants, leaseholders and residents to get involved and influence how housing services are delivered.

There will be a number of speakers at the event – taking place on October 29 at Saltwells Education Centre, in Netherton – setting out the national and local challenges facing social housing providers, including the council.

Councillor Gaye Partridge, cabinet member for housing, said: “Last year’s event was a huge success where we saw the launch of the housing board and the dedicated resident participation website and this year we want to make it even better!

“I would recommend anyone interested in going along to get in touch as soon as possible to ensure they book their space as numbers are limited.

“We will be focusing our attention this year on the challenges which the council’s housing services will face in the future resulting from changes in government policy.

“There will also be an information marketplace showcasing many of the initiatives housing services have on offer and the chance to talk about anything that is important in communities.”
