EMERGENCY services worked together to help save a stricken elderly woman on a narrow boat.

The lady, aged 74, had a fall on her boat in Evesham Marina around 2pm this afternoon (Monday), and is believed to have broken her hip.

West Midlands Ambulance Service was called and attended the scene but asked the fire service for help extricating the woman from her boat.

Five firefighters from Evesham responded to the call at 2.22pm and helped to lift her the "2ft to 3ft" to a platform where the ambulance was.

Watch commander Julian Jenkins said: "We were asked to go along and gave her a hand.

"The lady was in a lot of pain and we helped to get her out.

"It was a good multi-agency job between the fire service and ambulance."

The lady was taken to hospital by land ambulance.

A fire service spokesman said the stop message was recorded at 3.03pm.
