AN appeal for witnesses has been launched by police after an attempted robbery in Upton-on-Severn.

At around 9pm on Saturday (March 28), the victim, a man in his 20s, was walking through an alleyway in School Lane.

He changed direction and became aware of a man stood directly in front of him, demanding money, then stepped back to find there was a second man behind him.

The man in his 20s was then pushed by both men and the first man reiterated his demand for money.

The victim said he didn't have any and two other people then entered the alleyway.

This led to the first man pushing the victim against a fence and running off in the direction of the High Street.

The victim was uninjured and nothing was taken during the incident.

The first man was described as having a thick Irish accent and wearing a black hooded top, with the hood up and a scarf across his face.

The second man also had his hood up and face covered and was wearing a black hooded jacket with Airmax written in white across the front.

Police are keen to speak to the two people who walked into the alleyway and anyone else who may have witnessed the incident.

Anyone with information is urged to call police on 101 quoting incident number 298 of March 29.
