THE clock is ticking for Dudley borough residents to nominate their unsung community heroes for a Mayor’s Civic Awards.
Nominations for sporting stars, tenants and resident group leaders and local historians have all been flooding in before the award closing date on Monday, February 9.
Presented in association with fitness and healthy lifestyle group Let’s Get, the awards highlight the work of people and groups doing incredible things across the borough.
Mayor of Dudley, Councillor Margaret Aston, said: “We have had some outstanding nominations so far but people still have time to let us know about their community heroes.
“We want to hear the success stories from the across the borough about people doing great things in sport, art, community, education, environment and business so we can give these people to recognition they deserve.”
The Mayor’s Award, one of the seven prize categories, will be decided by a public vote after Cllr Aston chooses four people or groups she feels have stood out to her on her civic engagements so far in her mayoral year.
Winners and runners-up will be presented with a trophy and a certificate by Cllr Aston at a civic ceremony in March.
Nominations can be made online at www.dudley.gov.uk/civicawards, by picking up a nomination from borough libraries and leisure centres, or calling 01384 817449.
Completed forms should be sent to Mayor’s Civic Awards nominations, Communications and public affairs, Dudley Council, Freepost MID22308, Dudley, DY1 1BR, before the closing date.
