HOMEOWNERS with cluttered up houses are being urged to do some feng shui and donate unwanted goods to a Halesowen charity shop.

Halesowen’s Age UK has teamed up with Kingswinford based manufacturer Handicare’s for the Feng Shui for Age UK scheme.

The Handicare team embraced the principles of the Chinese space management philosophy, had a clear out at home and donated items good enough to re-sell and are urging local residents to do the same.

Handicare’s sales and marketing director Tony Mercer said: “This was a win win arrangement for all concerned.

"We have found that often people mean to give items to a charity shop but with, fewer trips to the high street, they often end up stock piling their donations at home instead."

He added: "With this campaign we were able to help make it easier for our team to donate whilst boosting the stock at our Local Age UK store too."

Age UK store manager Karen Tolley added: “Age UK is proud to partner with Handicare, offering a range of products and living solutions to make life easier for those in later life.

"We are delighted that the team have got together to clear out their unwanted items, helping us raise much need funds to support our vital work in Halesowen."

She added: "With over 440 Age UK shops across the UK, we rely on the kind donations of the local community, which are then sold on and help us deliver a range of national and local support services to help ensure older people across the country can make the most of later life."

Handicare, through various fundraising schemes, has raised over £1million for Age UK.
