A MAN was airlifted to hospital on Monday after getting trapped in machinery in Woofferton.
Emergency services were called to Chris C Hazel, a haulage and shot blasting firm on Station Road just after 2.30pm.
Paramedics and firefighters took an hour to free a man in his 30s before he was flown to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham after he sustained a serious arm and hand injury, as well as a severe cut to his leg.
The Health and Safety Executive has said it is are investigating the incident.
Shot blasting is a process often used to clean the surface of a material and involves a gun or ride-on rolling blasting machine that is used to shoot various types of material.
A responder paramedic, a BASICS emergency doctor from Mercia Accident Rescue Service (MARS) and two air ambulances were all called to to the scene.
“When crews ar rived they found a man who was trapped by his arm in a piece of industrial machinery," said Claire Thomas, spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service.
The man was immediately given strong pain relief to help stabilise his condition.
“After a delicate operation taking around an hour, the man was released from the machinery.
