Why are they replacing paving slabs with dense bitumen Macadam (DBM)?
The Highway Unit, Dartford, writes “New slab paving is easily disturbed by utility works”. But DBM can look even more dismal after it's been dug up a few times.
“Street trees lift paving slabs.” They also lift DBM. The area will lose a little of its character.
