Ludlow students are gearing up for 24 hour charity triathlon

LUDLOW College’s higher sports award leaders have been busy planning and organising a twenty-four hour triathlon event which will kick off its new fitness suite.
Students are hoping to raise not only a whole heap of gold for their charitable cause, but masses of bronze and silver as well.
They will use their sponsorship money to promote and organise two other sporting events for later this year.
The first is aimed at year seven secondary school pupils and will take place at the Craven Arms Community Centre; the second will be a disabled event with local Ludlow charity Working Together.
Nine students are taking part. They will be competing against nine teachers.
“Our event will continue throughout Thursday night and on into Friday, non-stop until it is completed,”
said organiser Catherine Mumford.
“The competition will involve each team cycling 874 miles – equivalent to travelling from John O’ Groats to Lands’ End; rowing 21 miles – equivalent to the crossing the English Channel; and running – 26 miles – a marathon.”
