AN elderly woman was airlifted to hospital after being hit by an unmanned 4x4 vehicle in Ludlow yesterday afternoon.
The incident took place just before 2pm outside Dinham House, Dinham.
Fire crews from Ludlow, Craven Arms, Tenbury Wells and Leintwardine attended the scene as well as the Incident Commander from Shrewsbury and the rescue tender from Wellington.
Alec Mackie, Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service press officer said: “The woman tried to stop the vehicle from rolling or moving and it rolled on top of her.
“She was trapped undeneath the 4x4 and air bags were used to raise the vehicle and release her.”
Police said the vehicle was a Mitsubishi Shogun Pinin Equippe and appealed for any witnesses to come forward.
The woman believed to be in her 70s suffered serious head injuries and was taken to Selly Oak Hospital by air ambulance.
