LUDLOW’S popularity as a visitor destination has resulted in an increase in support for guided tours this year.
The town’s 20 guides are very busy but they found time to expand their knowledge of the town with a group tour with one of the newly recruited guides, Mike Beazley.
Mike Beazley dressed up as John Turnor, a Ludlow Palmer who lived in the Old Gate House in the 15th century.
He now lives in this house and took Ludlow's Town Guides on a walk around the medieval town and introduced guides to the town and its inhabitants as they were in 1472.
The town tours of Ludlow are organised by Ludlow Historical Research Group.
Tours depart from the cannon outside the Castle every Saturday and Sunday from April to end of October at 2.30 pm.
There are also weekday tours during school summer holidays. Special tours can be arranged for small or large groups by contacting Roger Furniss on furniss@phonecoop.coop or 01584 874205.
