THE build-up to one of the biggest charity golf days in the West Midlands is well under way,

On Friday, May 5 more than 250 golfers will be teeing off at Cleobury Mortimer Golf Club.

The golf day, now in its eighth year has raised just over £60.000 just from the event day itself.

The Adam Millichip Foundation provides financial support and assistance to disabled people wishing to participate in sport to improve the quality of their lives.

It was set up in memory of Adam Millichip, a young man from Tenbury who was tragically killed in an accident at work, leaving a young family.

The golf event is the charity’s biggest event of the year and enjoyed by hundreds of people who not only come to play golf but to be part of the popular presentation evening which has local auctioneer Michael Thomas once again hosting the auction. This year, they welcome special guest Kelda Wood, a para canoeist who just missed out on qualification for Rio 2016.

She still has Olympic ambitions and will also be attempting to solo row the Atlantic Ocean in December 2018. Kelda will be telling her inspiring story and also presenting the awards.

The foundation has some major new sponsors of the event.

Tesco has not only agreed to support the golf day by becoming an event sponsor but also support the foundation at all other events throughout the year,

The foundation has one of the biggest farm equipment dealers in the West Midlands, Tallis Amos, as an event sponsor.

It has also had a large donation of £1,000 given to the golf day event by a company that wish to remain anonymous,

“To secure the likes of Tesco and Tallis Amos, adding to our list of already impressive event sponsors is fantastic,” said Mark Benbow of the Adam Millichip Foundation.

“It just shows that even in our eighth year the golf day is as popular as ever and that is not only down to the golfers, some of whom travel hundreds of miles to play on the day but also the fantastic local community and companies who support us so much. We can’t thank everyone enough.”

The successful tented sponsors and media village will again be situated at the back of the 18th green. There are still sponsorship opportunities available and these start from £100.

Any individual or company who wish to be involved with this great local event should contact Mark Benbow on 07966935938 or markb@adammillichipfoundation.org

All tee-times are now sold out but if anyone would like to volunteer on the day or donate auction or raffle prizes the foundation would be delighted.
