IT is estimated that roughly one in three people will receive a cancer diagnosis at some stage in their lifetime.

But almost everyone will have family, friends or colleagues who have suffered from the disease.

People from Ludlow and south Shropshire are being invited to an event where they can share their experiences of cancer as well as get support and advice.

“The event will be open to everybody including cancer survivors, people living with cancer, their carers’, relatives and friends,” said Jessica Hancox, lead cancer nurse at the Shrewsbury and Telford NHS Trust.

“It will be a great chance for people to share their experiences. Healthcare professionals from a variety of areas including Macmillan Cancer Information, a Macmillan Benefits Adviser and Hammer Help and Support staff, will be on hand to offer help and guidance.”

The event is on Friday, February 3 between 10am and 12noon at the Shropshire Conference Centre at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital. It will help mark World Cancer Day on Saturday, February 4.
