A REPLICA of a World-War-One aircraft built and owned by a Ludlow man has been used to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the end of the Battle of the Somme.
The world’s only airworthy Bristol Scout aircraft is displayed at Salisbury Cathedral as part of the commemoration of the 100th Anniversary of the End of the Battle of the Somme.
This event is supported by SSAFA: The Armed Forces Charity.
The Bristol Scout built and owned by David Bremner, from Ludlow, and Theo Willford, from Dorset, has had a memorable year.
In June, the Greek government invited David and Theo to Thassos, an island off the coast of Greece, where David’s grandfather flew in WWI with the RNAS.
David flew from the same airfield to commemorate this campaign exactly 100 years on.
In July David and Theo carried on their journey to France where both pilots flew over the Thiepval memorial.
