THIS photograph was taken in 1949 of the boys of Burford School taking a break from their game of cricket.
The school seen on the left background of the picture is now the business of a mobile phone provider and is sited adjacent to the Lockyers Farm on the A456.
The boys pictured, from the left at the rear, are Fred Wall, David Roberts, Geoff Mytton, Brian Evans, John Lambert, and Bob Evans; front: Fred Morgan, Ted Wall, the late Brian Tomkins, Reggie Lambert, and Ken Tomkins.
The meadow is across the A456 road from the school, and the field belonged to the Lockyers Farm which was often occupied by a placid bull.
The headmistress of the school was Miss Gwen Pryce who lived in the house adjacent to the school
