FUNDING for the Ludlow Foyer should be on the agenda of a meeting of Shropshire Council today (Thursday, September 22).
This follows a petition signed by more than 1,300 people calling for a deb ate.
The petition started in Ludlow expresses concern about the threat to the Foyer that puts a roof over the heads of young people that otherwise would be homeless.
But the facility is facing a double whammy resulting from threatened changes to housing benefit and the loss of funding from Shropshire Council.
The council is obliged to have a debate on any issue where there are more than 1,000 signatures.
In order to draw attention to the situation at the Ludlow Foyer, a group of people from the town staged a one-night sleep-out.
The Foyer provides accommodation for up to 15 young people who otherwise might find themselves homeless.
It is the only facility of its kind in Shropshire.
