‘SONGS for You’ is a creative and music intervention for people with dementia and their carers in Ludlow.
A series of sessions is running at Helena Lane Centre in Ludlow with experienced singer, musician and storyteller Sal Tonge.
There is evidence that music helps dementia patients recall memories and emotions. Music can evoke emotion in even the most advanced of Alzheimer’s patients.
The sessions are organised by South Staffordshire and Shropshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust – their Arts for Health department have 10 years’ experience of using creative arts within mental health
‘Songs for You’ programme in Shrewsbury is in its fifth year, but it is new to Ludlow!
It is being supported by Wesley’s Churches Together and Ludlow Town Council.
Sessions are on alternate Thursdays at 1.30pm on September 8 and 22, October 13 and 27, November 10 and 24 and on December 8 and 22.
More information is available from David Key at Helena Lane Centre on 01743 257750.
