THE counting is finished and Ludlow Dog Day was a bumper success.

Held for the third successive year at Stokesay Court, the event run by Ludlow Rotary Club made more than £21,000.

“Ludlow Dog Day surpassed our most hopeful expectations and raised over £21,000 for our chosen charities,” said Angus Kerr of Ludlow Rotary Club.

“The weather was kind and the feedback from close to 4,000 spectators and competitors was overwhelmingly positive.

"Stall holders too had a successful day.”

Main beneficiaries will be Severn Hospice, Megan Baker House, Canine Partners and the PDSA.

There will also be a number of smaller donations going to a number of other local charities.

“Ludlow Rotary Club is extremely grateful to all our volunteers and sponsors, in particular Tuffins Supermarkets, Teme Vets, Hobsons Brewery, and Hatfield Jaguar/LandRover,” added Angus Kerr.
