ALL Ludlow can do now is wait.

Judges Roger Bache and Mark Wiltshire from Heart of England in Bloom were keeping their cards close to their chests after touring the town.

“It was smashing,” said Roger Bache when the judges arrived at Ludlow Brewery.

They had been taken on a tour around the town with Vivienne Parry who chairs the Ludlow in Bloom group and Tracey Huffer who is a fellow member for Ludlow on Shropshire Council.

Ludlow has taken gold on 11 of the 13 occasions that it has entered the ‘Heart of England in Bloom’ competition.

This year Ludlow will host the awards ceremony in September at the Assembly Rooms so there will be even more pressure not to slip.

As part of the tour this year the judges were shown the sensory garden in the Town Centre car park that has been paid for with £12,000 from the Tesco ‘Bags for All’ fund.

The judging criteria for the ‘In Bloom’ competition has been changed over the years and is not just about looking good anymore but there is a requirement to demonstrate community involvement.

At the end of the judging there were burgers and a salad at the Ludlow Brewery.
