A SEARCH has started for a ‘people’s champion’ in Ludlow.

The person will help to select the winner of a Right Royal window dressing competition.

It is being run by Ludlow in Bloom and so far more than 20 shops in the town have signed up to take part.

The idea is that the shops dress their windows in a way that will mark the Queen’s 90th birthday.

“We will be looking for displays that help to tell the story of the Queen’s long life,” said Vivienne Parry, the chairman of Ludlow in Bloom.

The windows have to be dressed by Friday, July 1 and will be judged eight days later. This will be after the Heart of England in Bloom judges have been in Ludlow.

One of the judges of the window competition will be Ludlow Town Councillor Graeme Perks who will be joined by whoever is chosen as ‘people’s champion.’

“We decided that we did not want to do the usual and have a dignitary but someone who knows and loves Ludlow,” said Vivienne Parry.

“There are no conditions on who it might be other than a warning that there will be quite a lot of walking involved in viewing all the windows and so anyone who is nominated will need to be fairly fit and mobile.”

Nominations should be sent to Vivienne Parry as chair of Ludlow in Bloom.
