STAFF at Tesco in Ludlow are doing their bit for a charity that is trying to tackle one of the biggest threats to public health in the UK.

The workers at Tesco are raising money for Diabetes UK.

It is a charity that helps to fund research and help people suffering from the disease that is affecting an increasing number of people.

Doctors in Ludlow are reporting seeing people in their teens and early 20s with type two diabetes that used to be associated almost exclusively with the onset of middle age.

The increasing cases of diabetes in younger people is largely attributed to lack of exercise and eating the wrong food.

Undetected and untreated diabetes can damage major organs like the heart and kidneys and result in blindness and amputations.
