THE arrival of spring being large number of motorcycles onto the roads of Ludlow and south Shropshire and Tenbury and the Teme Valley.
But ambulance chiefs are warning motorcycle riders not to allow the warn weather to stop them wearing proper protective clothing.
The warning comes after a rider suffered serious ‘road rash’ after coming off his machine wearing track suite bottoms.
“As the weather has warmed up, we have seen people riding in shorts and t-shirts,” said a spokesman from West Midlands Ambulance.
“Whilst no rider expects to come off their motorbike, the reality is that some do. We know from extensive experience that those wearing good quality leathers, boots and obviously a helmet, suffer far less serious injuries.
“Whilst it may be warm to wear, in our opinion, it is simply not worth the risk not to wear safety equipment – it could ultimately save your life.”
