WORK is nearing completion on a special garden for a special young boy in Ludlow who is becoming very excited.

Toby Morris has severe disabilities and the national charity ‘Make-A-Wish’ together with neighbours have been making a special garden for him to play in at his Ludlow home.

Now the work is just weeks away from completion and the five-year-old is getting very excited.

This brave little boy has severe cerebral palsy and epilepsy than means that he requires full-time care.

He was nominated for support from the charity ‘Make-A-Wish’ and the garden of the family home is to be transformed.

It will be made more accessible for Toby, who depends upon a wheelchair. Sensory flowers will be planted and a range of toys installed to help meet Toby’s needs.

Mum Nicky, 35, dad Matthew 40, and his little sister Eleri who is two are looking forward to the garden being ready with the opening scheduled for Saturday, May 21.

Toby can suffer more than 100 epileptic fits and day but this has improved a lot following a change of diet last year but he also needs daily physiotherapy.

Toby was born by emergency caesarean six week prematurely after a routine test showed that mum Nicky was suffering from pre-eclampsia – very high blood pressure.

Despite facing many difficulties including having to be fed through a tube, Toby is a cheerful boy with a smile on his face.

The family has had a lot of support from local people and two years ago a friend raised more than £2,000 to help him by taking part in an Iron man event.

“Having spent the last few months excitedly watching the day-to-day transformation that Ben and Jon have carried out we have finally been able to wheel Toby out of his bedroom, up his custom-made ramp and all around the garden! It may have taken a lot of effort but it’s been well worth it,” said mum Nicky.

“As well as the garden materials, I’ve estimated that it’s taken around 330 coffees, 125 teas, three cakes, seven packets of biscuits, four pizzas, one broken pickaxe, two broken wheelbarrows, one broken trowel and five pairs of Eleri's shoes washed after she went climbing in the mud!

“We are so looking forward to being able to spend time together making memories outside which we will be able to cherish for years to come. Without Make-A-Wish we would never have been able to achieve this for our special boy. Thank you just doesn't seem enough!”

It was after the charity was told about Toby that they want to see him to find out what he wanted.

The charity’s staff then got to work in pursuit of their mission to grant every eligible child’s one true wish.

They called upon Toby’s family, friends, neighbours and supporters from all over the country to become the community of ‘Wish Makers’ that turn this wish into a magical reality.

Businesses of different shapes and sizes including Severn Trent have all helped.
