THE Royal British Legion is looking for volunteers who want to support the Royal British Legion by becoming a poppy appeal organiser in Ludlow.

In 2015 the area raised over £18,000 due to the hard work and dedication of it volunteers.

Paul Draper, current Mayor of Ludlow, became a poppy appeal organiser three years ago on Remembrance Day.

Paul Draper took over from Kath Walker who had been in the position since 2002 and has very much remained an active part of the poppy appeal ever since.

Kath’s husband served in the Army and the couple were legion members and volunteers since 1996, until Kath’s husband passed away recently.

Paul Draper’s father also served in the army and is now an honorary president of the Royal British Legion.

Once a year they hold a coffee morning during remembrance time which always has a great turn out and raises much needed funds.

There are currently about 50 volunteer collectors in the area but always looking for more assistance.

For the 2016 appeal, the legion is looking for a new poppy appeal organiser for Ludlow and the surrounding rural areas.

Poppy appeal organisers work with community fundraisers throughout the year to plan and organise the poppy appeal in local areas.
