PEOPLE in Ludlow buying their fruit and veg have been asked what they would like the town council to spend their money on.

Members of the Ludlow Town Council had a market stall in the town but they were not selling.

Instead the councillors were talking with people to find out what residents think are the main priorities.

Ludlow Town Council has set an inflation busting increase when it levies its council tax precept. The council blames the loss of funds from Whitehall that are being retained by Shropshire Council.

But it says that this is necessary because of the loss of £34,000 in rate support grant which Shropshire Council has decided to hold onto.

The town council has also decided to dip into its reserve to the tune of £36,000 and says that it will honour commitments made for local grant aid.

Ludlow Town Council budget for 2015/16 is £650,455 of which it will raise £335,299 from local council tax payers.
