ROGER Furniss, the president of Ludlow Hockey Club has sent in this wonderful picture, which he was given, by the Hall family of Ashford Court.
It shows a Ludlow Hockey club mixed team lined up outside the Burway pavilion and includes, on the far right of the front row, William Hall .
The photo was taken almost certainly in the early years of the 20th century when, in the time of the suffragettes, mixed hockey was popular in the area.
William Hall was born in 1856 and therefore was well into his forties. His sons, William and Kit were later outstanding members of Ludlow Hockey Club and Shropshire County Hockey in the interwar period.
