THERE are plans to build houses in the centre of Ludlow.

Subject to planning approval 25 homes will be built on the site of the former South Shropshire District Council offices at Stonehouse.

The site has been sold by Shropshire Council and the application has been lodged by Purcell Developments.

If approved it would involve a mixed development of home ranging from one to four bedrooms that would be built in a mock Georgian style.

It is a modification on an earlier scheme with five fewer houses as a result of consultations that included the Ludlow Advisory Committee.

Three homes on the site would be designated as ‘affordable’ meaning either for rent or shared ownership.

The plans envisage three one bedroom homes, six with two bedrooms, 12 three bed and four larger four bedroom houses.

Existing trees would be retained and built around the development that is within a five minute walk of Ludlow railway station.
