A VILLAGE hall near Ludlow has been given a £10,000 boost to help it to make improvements.
Caynham Village Hall has been given £9,409 by Awards for All England, funded by the Big Lottery.
Most of this grant will pay for the installation of a new step-free entrance with an electronically controlled door.
The existing entrances all require steps or raised thresholds to be negotiated, so the new doorway will facilitate participation in events at the Hall by those using wheelchairs, buggies and prams.
It will also fund improvements to the internal and external décor and to the facilities in the toilets and the kitchen.
These alterations are part of a planned major refurbishment of Caynham Village Hall.
Further funding for other items, including a new insulated floor and replacement windows, which will greatly improve the energy efficiency and comfort of the building.
