PEOPLE across Ludlow and south Shropshire and in Tenbury and the Teme Valley who were up in the early hours had the chance to view a rare astronomical event.

It was an eclipse of the moon which occurs when the moon passes through the shadow of the earth. But what made it even more special was that it took place at the same time as the so-called ‘supermoon.’

This is when the moon is at the closest point in its orbit of the earth and so looks unusually large.

People were able to see the moon turn rust red known to some as a ‘blood moon.’
