GOOD food is the signature of Ludlow and south Shropshire.

Now Ludlow MP Philip Dunne is back a ‘food fortnight’ initiative.

Set up in 2002 when British food producers were struggling to recover from the foot and mouth crisis, British Food Fortnight promotes and celebrates UK produce as some of the best in the world.

“British food and drink is something we should be proud to celebrate, and nowhere is this more relevant than in the Ludlow Constituency,” said Philip Dunne.

“Across south Shropshire we are fortunate to have a wealth of quality butchers, bakers, breweries and independent food and drink manufacturers, which has helped put us on the map. The enduring popularity of the Ludlow Food Festival shows how important the food and drink industry is to our area.

“The Government has put emphasis on buying British food, launching the 'Plan for Public Procurement', which will open up a potential new market for British farmers worth £400 million and see central government commit to buying fresh, locally sourced and seasonal food from 2017.
