A STUNNING evening gown is available for auction to provide a final push for funds to put the names of the war dead around the memorial in the town.

It has been provided by ‘Expensive Mistakes’ in the town and will add to the £1,000 that was raised at a recent fashion show involving the independent shops in the town.

More than 100 people attended the Fashion Show that was held in the Methodist Church in the town.

The money raised takes the total to £6,000 leaving just £1,500 more needed to meet the cost of putting all of the names around the war memorial.

Work will start this year and be completed by Remembrance Day in 2016 when the names of all of those from Ludlow in World War One, World War Two and the Korean War will be on slabs around the memorial.

The dress that has been donated by Carmel Wilson from ‘Expensive Mistakes’ is a pale peach evening gown in a size 10. It is valued at about £150 and bids can be made by calling 01584 456320 or visiting the ‘Expensive Mistakes’ facebook site.

“We have had tremendous support from the independent shops Bodenhams, who gave us great advice and people in the town,” said Margaret Edwards from Poyners who is leading the war memorial fund raising.
