A CHOIR marked the 70th anniversary of VJ Day in Tenbury.

The Choir of Tenbury Royal British Legion performed outside the Regal in the town on Saturday morning (August 15) for a ceremony to mark the 70 years since the end of the Second World War.

Later in the day there was an afternoon tea event run by the Women’s Section of the RBL in the town to mark 70 years since the end of the war in the Far East and also to raise money for the 2015 Poppy Appeal.

There were two events in Ludlow to mark the 70th anniversary of VJ Day.
A ceremony at the Henley Road Cemetery was followed by a service at St Laurence Church.

The service of dedication at the Cemetery was be given by Ann Barge and was attended by representatives of Ludlow Royal British Legion, The Town Council and members of the public.

But the cross is not just concerned with the first and second world wars but is dedicated to all Ludlovians who have taken up arms to defend the country to defend our country in all conflicts.

The cross and inscriptions were donated by Mr David Thompson. Ludlow Royal British Legion is leading the project.
After the dedication of the cross there was a service at the war memorial at St Laurence Church conducted by Canon Jeffry Wilcox, a former deputy mayor of Ludlow.
