A WINE producer from south Shropshire has proved that English wine can be the best.

Kerry Vale Vineyard, based near Bishop's Castle, is celebrating having won seven awards in three national and international competitions in as many weeks.

For a second year running they have won three awards in this year’s UK wine industry national competition and last week it was announced they have also won two awards at the national ‘Great Taste Awards 2015’.

This news comes following a double win at the ‘International Wine Challenge 2015’.

Kerry Vale Vineyard won a silver award for their ‘Shropshire Lady’ dry white wine and two bronze awards for their ‘Summer Days’ medium dry white and ‘Seren Star’ slightly sweet white wines at the UK Vineyard Association’s (UKVA) English and Welsh wine of the year competition.

They have also won two one-star accolades for their ‘Shropshire Lady’ and ‘Summer Days’ wines at the Great Taste Awards. These are the same two wines which won prizes at the International Wine Challenge in June.

“We are a small family run vineyard who work very hard to produce the best possible grapes for our wine,” said Geoff Ferguson, owner of the business.

“All of our vines are individually tended by hand and we pay very close attention to detail to ensure the highest quality possible.

“We have already had lots of really positive feedback, so we were confident that our wines were good, but it’s great to get national and international recognition and praise from Masters of Wine.”
