THOSE who made a short climb had an outstanding bird’s eye view of the countryside of south Shropshire and north Herefordshire.
St James' Church in Wigmore held one of its regular tower tours enabling people to clamber up the 14th century bell tower.
They were rewarded not just with a good view but also a chance to see the bell chamber with instruments that date back to 1793.
St James' Church was built by the Mortimer family and has a number of interesting features including a Norman Nave. The layout of the choir stalls is an example of the influence of Puritanism.
