A THIN drizzle turned into a massive downpour as the judges from Heart of England in Bloom made their final stop on a two hour visit of the town.
They completed the tour of inspection at the alms houses opposite St Laurence's Church.
But a small gazebo stopped the two men, who will decide the outcome of months of work by volunteers from Ludlow in Bloom, from getting a drenching.
It was indicative of the detail that was put into the bid for gold.
Ludlow has been awarded gold in 10 of the 12 years it has entered the competition and organisers are determined that the 13th time should not be unlucky.
The visit ended with a lunch at the Women’s Centre that included local food and drink including Ludlow cheese.
Roger Bache, chairman of the judges, said that there has been much to impress and he commented upon the cleanliness of the town.
The results will be announced in September.
