THE most capped British Olympian will open the Bishop's Castle Carnival on Sunday.
Alison Williamson, MBE, will open the carnival at 2pm after the parade though the town that starts an hour earlier.
She is Britain’s most capped Olympian and holds medals at Olympic, Commonwealth Games and World Championship level.
When she won the bronze medal at the games held in Athens she became the first British woman to win a medal in archery since 1908.
After the opening ceremony there will be an afternoon of entertainment including ‘The Ultimate Air Show’ free style stunt mountain bike team. This top team has in their number eight world and 25 British champions.
On the music stage the main act will be local band ‘Fight the Bear’ made up of Ben Beddows, Jonathan Kelly, James Furbur and Duncan Bains.
There will be a full programme of events including a dog show with six different classes.
The carnival will be held on the Recreation Ground and the parade of floats will take in the town centre.
