TWO gardens near Ludlow are opening their gates.

They will be open as part of the National Gardens Scheme on Sunday.

Holmcroft is a quintessential English cottage garden, at Brimfield on the outskirts of Ludlow with classically beautiful design and planting around a 17th century thatched cottage.

Visitors will be able to appreciate the rose and herbaceous borders, kitchen garden, gravel garden and a walk around the woodland garden.

Most areas of the garden are accessible by wheelchair except the woodland area. The garden is open from 2pm to 5.30pm on Wyson Lane.

Admission is £4 for adults and is free for children.

The second garden is part of the magnificent estate at Millichope, with gardens extending to 14 acres.

This historic landscape features lakes, with 18th century cascades, woodland walks, and the wildflower meadows.

The walled gardens and 19th century glasshouses are currently being restored and are an interesting project to view.

There is also the opportunity to see the award-winning Bouts Viola collection, with many varieties for sale.

The garden is open from 2pm to 6pm and located at Munslow, on the B4368 between Ludlow and Bridgnorth.

Admission is £5 for adults and is free for children.

The National Gardens Scheme supports charities including Macmillan Cancer Support, Marie Curie, Hospices UK and The Carers Trust.
