ONE of Ludlow's best kept secrets will be open to the public at the weekend.
Carolyn and Kevin Wood will be opening the gates to their large but well-hidden garden at 21 Steventon New Road on Saturday between noon and five.
The garden, which is more than half an acre in size, will open as part of the National Gardens Scheme's (NGS) 'Open For Charity' weekend.
It is hidden behind a row of terraced houses in Ludlow and shows just how much can be achieved in a green space in town.
"We call it the secret garden because you would not know it was here," said Mrs Wood.
"People are happy to see it and cannot believe it's here.
"You would expect the cottages here to only have small gardens and this is not what they are expecting to see."
The garden has won the best back garden award from Ludlow In Bloom for the last two years.
Beds and borders all mingle happily with plants, roses, vegetables, Mediterranean-style terracing, and chickens.
Teas and plants will be available with all proceeds going to NGS charities. Entrance is £3.50 for adults and is free for children. Well-behaved dogs are welcome.
