A LUDLOW poet and performer is using his own family as inspiration for his one man show at the town's Fringe Festival.

Gareth Owen, who will perform at Ludlow Library in a free event, has taken his own experiences with his father and aunt to inform his talk entitled 'My Family and Other Strangers'.

"I had to look after my dad while my sister was on holiday once," said Gareth, whose father was 83 at the time.

"It's difficult being with your father some times.

"I thought how I am going to get through this so I decided I would write down everything that happened.

"I am really glad I did that and in fact the more outrageous my father was the better the copy."

Gareth also visited his aunt, his oldest living relative, once a month and also wrote down what she said to him.

"Everybody has looked after an elderly relative and the comedy and confusion that comes out of it is something everyone can relate to," said Gareth.

The talk will take place at 7pm on Sunday June 28.
