A PENSIONER who lives on the county's border feels she is a "forgotten voter" as she always receives the incorrect election pamphlets.

Mary Giles lives in Brimfield which falls just on the Herefordshire side of the county's Shropshire boundary.

But although she resides in Herefordshire, she has a Shropshire postcode, which means she receives pamphlets from Ludlow candidates for the general election.

But on May 7 she will be voting for a North Herefordshire candidate.

Mrs Giles, 64, who lives with her husband, Peter, said: "I couldn't tell you who the people are who we have the choice of voting for in our constituency. I could tell you who Ludlow has but that is no help whatsoever.

"I should imagine all along this Shropshire and Herefordshire border it is the same. It must happen a lot."

The boundary of the North Herefordshire constituency is aligned to the county boundary.

Mrs Giles said: "Can all parties therefore actually base their distribution of pamphlets on county borders not postcodes or is this too much to ask? Are we yet again the "forgotten" voters as in the past?

"As this election is going to be the toughest choice yet, I am sure I am not the only one in this situation, not just here but all around the countryside."

A spokesman for Herefordshire Council said: "Campaign material is published and distributed by the candidates or their agents and it is a matter for them to decide how their literature is distributed to voters’ level."

The candidates standing in the North Herefordshire constituency are Daisy Blench (Green); Jeanie Falconer (Liberal Democrat); Sally Prentice (Labour); Jonathan Oakton (UKIP) and Bill Wiggin (Conservative).

In the Hereford and South Herefordshire constituency the candidates are Anna Coda (Labour); Nigel Ely (UKIP); Jesse Norman (Conservative); Lucy Hurds (Liberal Democrat) and Diana Toynbee (Green).
