A DRINK-driver was caught by police a short distance from his Ludlow home following an anonymous tip-off, a court heard.
Peter Burnley, 63, had been at the Bull Hotel in Ludlow to discuss a business proposition last month.
Telford magistrates heard police had received a call saying that a man drinking in the pub was about to leave in his car.
Officers stopped Burnley in his blue Skoda Octavia just metres from his home on Temeside, Ludlow, on February 23.
Kate Price, prosecuting, said Burnley failed a roadside breath test and subsequent tests showed he had 53 microgrammes of alcohol in his breath – the legal limit is 35.
Burnley, who had admitted a charge of driving with excess alcohol, was banned from the road for a year and fined £100.
He represented himself at court and told magistrates he had been in full-time employment until August last year and the loss of his driving licence would now end his self-employment chances.
Burnley said he had only taken his car to the pub because he was meeting a client to discuss tools and that normally he would walk or take the bus.
