LUDLOW’S appeal to get the names of the town’s fallen heroes on to paving stones around the town’s war memorial has reached the halfway mark.
The Sponsor a Name appeal has netted £2,500 towards the £6,000 needed.
The appeal was bolstered by £652 raised by Ludlow School pupils from a non-uniform day. It is planned to put the names of 180 soldiers who died in the First and Second World Wars and the Korean War on paving stones around the memorial. One of the next fundraisers is a race night at Ludlow Fire Station on March 21 at 7.30pm. Margaret Edwards and Jean Parker from Poyner’s Drapers started the appeal.
Mrs Edwards said : “We are delighted with the help we have received from the community.”
